Forza Horizon 6 Confirmed for May 19 Launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC — Set in Japan, PS5 Later in 2026
Microsoft and Playground Games have confirmed Forza Horizon 6 will launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC (Microsoft Store and Steam) on May 19, 2026, with Premium Edition Early Access starting four days earlier on May 15. The studio also reiterated that the title will hit PlayStation 5 later in 2026, with PlayStation Store pre-orders open for notification but no firm date yet. Microsoft’s official Xbox product page and forza.net both list Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass as Day-One delivery channels at no extra cost — a significant strategic move given Forza Horizon’s historical place as the best-selling Forza title.
The setting is Japan, marking the first time the open-world Horizon series has crossed into the country in its franchise history, per GameSpot and NME. Playground Games’ reveal materials show a map blending Mount Fuji-style mountain runs, neon-soaked Tokyo-inspired urban districts and rural cherry-blossom country roads. The game continues the series’ signature seasonal-rotation system with a wider live-service pivot, including stylized vehicle cosmetics and a heavier post-launch update cadence than Forza Horizon 5’s.
May 19 places Forza Horizon 6 squarely against an unusually crowded month: Mixtape on May 7, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5 on May 12, Subnautica 2 Early Access on May 14, and Street Fighter 6’s Ingrid DLC on May 28. With the title also confirmed for PS5 later this year, the multi-platform play represents Microsoft’s clearest evidence yet that the publisher’s Day-One PlayStation strategy — launched with Hi-Fi Rush in 2024 and accelerated through 2025 — now reaches its biggest in-house franchise. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers on Xbox Series X|S and PC will get the game at no incremental cost on day one.
