Housemarque, the Sony-owned studio behind the critically acclaimed Returnal, has confirmed that Saros has gone gold — meaning the game is complete and in production ahead of its April 30, 2026 launch as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. The announcement comes as a relief to fans who watched the game slip from its original March 20 window; Push Square reported the gold status confirmation alongside a note that no further delays are expected. The game's PS5-exclusive status means it will not launch day-and-date on PC or other consoles, positioning it as a marquee first-party title for Sony heading into the competitive late-spring release window.

Set on the alien planet Carcosa, Saros casts players as enforcer Arjun Devraj, dispatched to investigate a mysterious phenomenon known as the Saros — an eclipse-like event that warps the planet's landscape and its inhabitants in ways that reset with each encounter. Like Returnal before it, the game is built around bullet-hell third-person shooter combat in a roguelike structure, where death sends players back to the beginning of a run while retaining meta-progression. Housemarque has described the game as expanding the roguelike vocabulary introduced in Returnal with new traversal mechanics, a larger variety of enemy archetypes, and a more explicitly narrative-driven framing for its loop structure.

Saros will launch with full PS5 Pro enhancements, taking advantage of the upgraded console's PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) upscaling and higher GPU throughput. The game carries the $80 price point that has become standard for major Sony first-party releases in 2025–2026. Digital pre-orders went live on the PlayStation Store alongside the gold announcement, and physical copies will be available at launch through major retailers. Housemarque's track record with Returnal, which won the BAFTA Games Award for Best Game in 2022, makes Saros one of the most anticipated PS5 exclusives of the spring 2026 release calendar.
